Our Projects
The IFPD originally started with a big dream and very ambitious goals. Ideally we wanted to help anyone who fell through the cracks of traditional health care, wherever they were in the world. We accepted individual applications from South Africa, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Brazil, and even from individuals in the USA: Colorado, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and California. We also had enquiries for assistance from Cambodia, Mexico and India.
We have had some success – stories like the one of little 3-year old Aalia in South Africa is the reason we started this, and the reason we keep going.
But we soon discovered that obstacles were many – often logistics, language barriers and most of all funding made it next to impossible to assist some of the applicants. Finally, we had to take a long hard look at our goals, our mission statement and where we are going. We did not want to give up, but we also had to face the reality: without significant funding, our initial goal will be very difficult to achieve.
Above all, we want to help people – people who still have a life to live. But to give false hope, is the cruelest act of all.
Therefore we have had to make the difficult decision to stop receiving individual applications for the time being. We have projects we would like to be involved with currently, and as we progress we will identify new ones. And we are always open for suggestions for new projects and new partners.
