Individual Applicants

Though the IFPD is currently not accepting new applications for assistance, we will make every effort to assist the applicants our Board of Directors has approved previously:

Wise – Fiji: Prosthesis

Marina – Pennsylvania, USA: Prosthesis – Marina lost her right leg below the knee more than a year ago and has never had a prosthesis.

Before my leg was amputated, my life was very happy. I was able to work, play footballand basketball. My favorite sport is football. I used to go out to dance with my boyfriend, Ilove dancing. In the evenings I used to walk with my friends, go shopping, and go to the park. I had a lot of fun, I was always cheerful. I always smiled because I felt happy. I had a job, and I was able to help my family. They depend financially on me; we are a family who lacks financial resources. I was able to help them with the little money I was earning. Today, after my amputation, my life is dramatically different. My life changed in a way I never expected. Today I am not able to work and/or play my favorite sport. I feel very sad and desperate because we do not have the economic resources to buy a prosthetic leg. I depend on my boyfriend for everything. I ask you for your help, so I can have a prosthetic leg. If I get one, I will be able to work and continue doing the activities that I have not been able to do since my leg was amputated. I desperately want to have a normal life again. I need and I depend on having a prosthetic leg to be able to work and continue helping my family. I will feel so happy with prosthesis because I will be able to walk. Please help me to reach my dream and needs. Thank you for your help and God Bless You.

*** The IFPD did work with a prosthetist and provided components for Marina’s prosthesis. We regret that we have been unable to get feedback or photographic evidence of how Marina is doing.
