Success Stories

MICHAEL BUSTER – Aurora, Colorado, USA

Michael contacted the IFPD for a hydraulic knee. He is a 47 year old amputee who lost his left leg and was told by his insurance company that he has reached his life-time limit for prosthetic devices. A hydraulic knee would greatly improve his ability to walk and overall quality of life, as Michael likes to fish and work in the garden.

The IFPD would like to acknowledge MIKE LITAVISH, C.P. from Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics, Aurora, Colorado, for his willingness to donate his time and service to provide Michael with his new prosthesis.

Thank you very much for the reply back to my e-mail and the news that you have a hydraulic knee. There is nothing I can say here that would come close to showing my appreciation for what you and your company have done for me. Your organization is truly a Godsend for me and for countless others as well. You have my heartfelt thanks for your help and I feel quite blessed for all that you do. Thank you very much.

LISA – California, USA

Lisa is in her forties and has osteoarthiritis (a degenerative joint disease). She has no insurance and no financial means to pay for a knee brace herself. A knee brace can prevent her from falling and hurting herself, as well as enable her to become more mobile and improve her quality of life.

We were able to have Lisa fitted with a knee brace in January 2010. Thank you to Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics – Cameron Park and Winnipeg Prosthetics and Orthotics for your generous assistance.

MARTHA – Warrenton, South Africa

Martha is an elderly lady in South Africa with osteoarthiritis (a degenerative joint disease). Martha’s mobility has been greatly restricted due to her disease for a number of years now. Martha’s daughter, Lydia, has been in contact with us as Martha would like nothing more than being able to go to church again. The IFPD has been able to provide her with two knee braces, generously fitted by Chris van Niekerk in Kimberley, South Africa.

Martha was so happy to feel more stable on her feet that she was going to “walk to the store to buy bread, milk and biscuits!” And then she was going to dance! We received a very touching letter from Martha – thanking us and telling us what a difference the braces has made in her life.
